This helps target the young people and encourages them to conider the practical issues of moving out of home, without being lectuering in tone (E) The use of the personal pronoun gives a personal viewpoint on the issue of leaving home. This perspective would be familiar to young people and allows them to put themselves in the picture and think about the reality of leaving home. (E) 3. The authors address the reader personally in the final paragraph, because this is where they give young people direction on how to survive leaving home. Most of the text has been personal and humorous and has successfully involved the reader. In the conclusion, the authors want to reinforce the main idea that moving out of the parental home can be exciting but that the excitement needs to be balanced with practicality: "just be sensible". By leaving the instructions/directions until the end of the text, the authors do not come across as lecturing the young reader, and the reader is more likely to reflection these suggestions when he or she starts thinking seriously about leaving home.
